Eight artists from area high schools won awards in the 3rd Annual High School Art Show hosted by the Seguin Oakwood Art League.

Tin Nguyen, senior at Seguin High School, won the $100 First Place prize for his pastel drawing “Growth.” Nguyen also won Honorable Mention for “Inspirational Beauty.” Second Place and $75 went to SeaJay Davis for her chalk drawing “Confused,” and Grace Gonzales won the $50 Third Place for her prisma color drawing “Sweet Baby.”
Honorable Mention ribbons were won by Elena Gonzalez for her acrylic painting “Stealing Carbon,” Shawna May for her mixed media piece “The Eyes,” Sean Riedel for his photograph “Grand Canyon Rainstorm,” and Michelle Rodriguez for her pen and ink drawing “Blue(fish).” Riedel is from Marion High School. All other winners are students of Matt Teeter at Seguin High School.
Artists in grades 9 through 12 in pubic and private schools throughout the area were invited to show their work, which remains on display in the Gallery at 109 N. River St. through June 28. Click here to see photos of the reception, winners, and artwork.
